Foundations Ride a Wave of Support

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation and Memorial Foundation had a record-setting year – holding special events that hit new heights in fundraising and welcoming new contributors. Along the way, we honored a new American Icon and recognized remarkable people who embody the Spirit of Healing.

  • The 7th Annual ANF Tour de Broward broke all records by raising more than $500,000 from 6,000 attendees – the largest Tour de Broward ever, and the first time the event hit the half-million-dollar mark.
  • The 2016 Joe DiMaggio American Icon award went to Pat Riley, president and former coach of the Miami Heat. Emcee Jeff Conine, entrepreneur Mike Fernandez and sports legends Andre Dawson, Orlando Cepeda and Alonzo Mourning led nearly 1,000 guests in saluting Riley for his outstanding career.
  • The 22nd Conine All-Star Golf Classic raised more than $285,000 for the Conine Clubhouse – its highest total to date.
  • The 12th Annual KISS Country Radiothon for Kids broadcast live from the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital lobby and raised more than $250,000 from country music fans.
  • Memorial and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundations dedicated the Dr. Henry D. Perry Jr. Family Birthplace at Memorial Regional Hospital and named the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital for Philanthropists of the Year Helene and Stephen Weicholz.
  • The Corvette Club of South Florida and teachers and students from the Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School together raised more than $25,000 for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
  • The Circle of Friends honored the Patient and Family Advisory Councils, Albert C. Jones, Stanley W. Marks, MD, FACS, Greg Marsh, Peter J. Shulman, MD, FACS, MBA and Dexter C. Sereda, MD, with the 2016 Spirit of Healing Award, and honored Al and Jackie Fernandez with the Wasie Philanthropic Leadership Award.

2016 Tour De Broward

Each year, thousands of people gather at Miramar Regional Park, united by one common cause – to support Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital at its annual Tour de Broward event.

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation and Memorial Foundation had an amazing year – from the record funds we raised at Tour de Broward to the efforts of those who support the work we do. Every dollar makes a difference in the lives of patients and families. We live in a truly remarkable place in which we not only have our friends’ and neighbors’ backs – we know they have ours.
— Kevin Janser, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer
